If you own any online business I am sure after launching your website one of the first things you did was type keywords into search engines like Google to see where your site was ranked. And if you are like most businesses you were probably very disappointed in the results. However, getting your page ranked higher is very simple when it comes down to it. While I am sure you have heard about the complex algorithms that search engines use, it is relatively easy to make them work for your website.

It is also worthwhile to explain how important it really is to have your website located on the top of search engine results. If your site is not listed on the first page then you are missing almost 70 per cent of your potential customers. This shows the importance of making sure you site is located within the first few pages of results. Think about the potential customers that your business is missing out on by having your page at the bottom of search results.

Fortunately, there are a few ways to increase your websites chances of being listed within the first few pages of search engines such as Google.

Keywords are simply the words or group of words that a person will search for in a search engine. Keywords should be placed near the top of the page and wherever they are relevant to subject matter. Choosing the right keywords is perhaps the most important way to increase your pages rank. Make sure to pick keywords that target your customer to your business. For example, if you sell boating supplies make sure that you include words that relate to boating and not of cars or planes.

Having your page linked from other pages also greatly increases your page rank. Many times sites will trade links so that both pages will be ranked higher in the search engine. However, these links must be relevant to your site and can not be something that does not relate. Doing so will result you being pushed further down in rank, just the opposite of what you want.

Title Tag

Title tags are the title of a particular webpage. It is also what potential visitors will see when searching for you on a search engine. Make sure to use it to your benefit and include your keyword and catchy phrases that will make the customer want to click on your site.

Learning the techniques to get your site saw by potential customers is the very best way to increase traffic to your site. While it may be complicated and difficult to understand, building a website that will rank high is much easier than you think.
