Reasons Many Email Campaign Fail

Email marketing has its high and low points. While the highs really do exceed the lows, nothing in life is perfect and email marketing is no exception. In fact, one of the biggest downfalls, as you can imagine, in email marketing is inactive recipients. However, while it may seem like they no longer wish to do business with you, there are several reasons why the drop of is occurring.

Subject Lines

Subject lines are the key to any successful marketing campaign and can be the deciding factor in a person opening or deleting an email. Remember you must convince your client to open the email, but at the same time you can not be forceful and scare them away. Also, be sure to keep it as short as possible so that clients will be sure to read your entire subject line.

Spam Filters/ Bulk Folders

If the content in your emails are reoccurring, many times a spam filter will believe that it is spam and delete it automatically. At the same time, if your emails are getting stoped by a blocklist, you can contact the list and explain to them that you are not spam. While spam filters can be your biggest enemy, there are several methods that you can use to get around them and get back at your client.

Change in interest

While you may have provided for the customer in the past, sometime they move on to different things. However, this does not mean you need to give up. Make sure that your emails stay up to date and are not just the same thing over and over again. One of the best ways to keep your customers interested is to send coupons and other specials via email. This way they will be sure to check your email every time to see what deals you offering.

Bad addresses

Many times the reason for a decline in an email marketing campaign can be bad email addresses. However, while you may receive bounce backs for some user’s emails it does not necessarily mean that they are completely bad. For example, if you are getting bounce backs make sure to check if it is bouncing back due to spelling, a spam filter, or a coding issue. While some of these problems can not be resolved sometimes emails that bounce can be fixed with any number of methods.

Email marketing can be one of the easiest and most effective ways of reaching your customers. However, if left unchecked email marketing can become a problem. Make sure that you check that everything is running smooth before giving up hope.
